ABOUT
Maker of music, tweaker of knobs
My first record was released in 2010 with the band, “ColonBlow”. Since then I
have branched out on my own and have released many singles under my own
name, Ronney Clement. Recording my own material gives me the luxury of doing
it in my home studio when inspiration strikes, and allows me to take my time in the
process. Perhaps you will search out my music and hopefully find something you
can relate to in my lyrics. Available on all streaming platforms. Enjoy!

MY STORY
EXPANDING BY SHRINKING
My latest endeavor inspired me to combine my two audio spheres. While working on the post production audio of the film “Those We Leave Behind”, we
needed some background music for a party scene. Instead of looking for royalty free music on the internet, I decided I should create my own songs for the
project. My past musical ventures have been with my bands, ColonBlow and Samuel Jack Tea, but these songs didn’t have the “sound” of these bands. So with
that in mind, I decided to try my hand at a solo project. This is neither the beginning of the end for my bands, nor the end of the beginning of my solo music.
It’s just something different for this period of my life.
MUSIC
WHERE’D MY HAPPY GO
Where’d My Happy Go is my first truly solo song.
It was written, composed, recorded, and
mastered by me while working on the film,
“Those We Leave Behind.” The film is about the
thoughts of a lonely person who feels they have
nothing left to live for.
This song is my take on that mindset.
This song was inspired by the Covid-19 quarantine
shutting down the economy, and in particular, the live
music scene. I had plans to go see my new favorite
band, “The Interrupters” in 2020, but essentially all
shows had been cancelled for the year. Obviously,
everyone was bummed by this, but the song ends by
pointing out that shows will go on again at some point.
It’s just a question of when.
“What Do You Say” is about how I felt when visiting
my step-father in the hospital, knowing he didn’t
have much time left. Everything I could think to talk
about seemed really shallow, but I didn’t know what
else I could say. In the end, I realized that it didn’t
matter if I said anything. What mattered was just
being there. Being present.
“I Thought I Saw You Today” is about when I was waiting at a
stoplight, a pickup truck pulled up beside me, and the driver
looked just like my older brother, who had died 4 years
earlier in a motorcycle accident. Like most moments in my
life, meaningful things hit me at different times. It’s usually
the smallest of things that trigger the thoughts that flood my
mind when I least expect it.
A punk spin on a cartoon classic, “Put One Foot
In Front Of The Other” revs up the song that
originally appeared in “Santa Clause is Coming
to Town”, this version gets the Winter Warlock
walking out the door faster than he could ever
imagine!
“2 Months” is an introspective song about knowing that your time in life is finite. I was
inspired to finish it quickly, after talking to a gentleman who wanted to hire our cover
band for his 90th birthday party. I had called him in December 2020, to see if he still
wanted to have us at his party in February. With Covid-19 continuing to run rampant, it
was decided that it would not be smart to have us play at a party for him. However, it
was also during that phone call, that he informed me he had lung cancer, and he
wasn’t sure if he was going to make it to his birthday. That devastating news made me
wonder what it would be like to receive that kind of diagnosis. “2 Months” is my
philosophical thoughts on the subject.
After speaking to my new older friend several times since that first call in December,
he was still in good spirts and grateful to have lived what he considered a long and
happy life. And though there was no live band to help him celebrate his milestone, it is
my hope that he appreciated this tribute song in his honor.
